About me

I've always been interested in photography, but it was only when I bought my first DSLR (a Nikon D80) at the beginning of 2007 that my passion really took hold.
I've long had a creative urge, but as I can't draw, paint, sing or play a musical instrument, finding an outlet for this creativity was a bit of a challenge!
It's been a steep and often frustrating learning curve since then and I've inched forward through a mixture of trial and lots of error, coupled with the generous assistance of a number of talented photographers that I am lucky enough to count as friends.
At the end of 2008 I switched from my trusty D80 to the excellent Nikon D300, which I now carry with me almost everywhere.
What I love about photography is the way it makes you really look at the world around you and become aware of your surroundings. I find myself constantly framing possible photographs in my mind's eye and always assessing the potential of whatever I see before me. As a runner, I spot many of my images whilst training, which probably explains why I seem to trip over more than my fair share of tree roots!
